About the Academy: For eight years, Gloucester Biotechnology Academy’s innovative Biotechnology Certificate program has prepared career-compromised young adults from the North Shore to be lab technicians. Academy graduates work in companies and academic laboratories throughout Massachusetts and beyond, demonstrating that rigorous training in bench work and professional skills is often more valuable to life science employers than a traditional college degree. The Academy is part of Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI), which operates a world-class marine research institute and promotes the growth of the scientific community in Gloucester and the North Shore.
