Join us for a lunch-hour Zoom on Thursday, June 22nd to discuss laboratory safety regulations & trends with Karen Yurek, Principal Consulting Safety Officer & Project Specialist at Safety Partners.

There is an ever-changing landscape of regulations and compliance when it comes to safety in the state of Massachusetts. How can we ensure we know what trends are being seen in safety regulations, and how do we prepare for these changes? Not to worry, that’s what this webinar is all about.

Key topics in safety trends will include:

  • NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 45 and lab unit regulations
  • HMIS and 414 Reports – what they are, and why more towns are starting to require them
  • Changes in state and local employee coverage under OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
  • Increased regulation of biosafety and the benefits of establishing an Institutional Biosafety Committee
  • MWRA wastewater updates

By the end of this discussion, we want you to not only have a better grasp of what may be on the horizon in towns/cities that are following the lead of others in Massachusetts but also to understand proactive measures you can put in place in your safety program based on changes we have seen in the towns/cities around Boston.

We hope to have many questions and interactivity during this webinar, and the final 15 minutes of the session will be dedicated to Q&A. Hope to see you there!

Our Speaker: Karen has been focused on laboratory safety for over fifteen years, working in industry and academia before joining Safety Partners ten years ago. She enjoys combining her love of science, her thirst for learning, her passion for helping people, and her sense of humor to make dry safety topics more stimulating and, dare we say it, fun.
