(https://electricracing.northeastern.edu/). The Northeastern Electric Racing team has competed in the electric class of the Formula Hybrid + Electric competition (https://www.formula-hybrid.org/ ) since 2020, placing second in 2022.
Started 17 years ago by the students and staff of the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College (https://engineering.dartmouth.edu/), the Formula Hybrid + Electric competition is arguably the most challenging of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Collegiate Design Series. Each spring, between 20 and 30 university teams bring the Hybrid and Electric vehicles that they have designed and built to the Formula Hybrid + Electric competition at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (https://www.nhms.com/) in Loudon, NH.
The evening will start at 5:30pm with a presentation on the Northeastern University campus by team leads followed by a tour of their maker space. Team members will be available to answer any questions about this year’s car and team. Pizza will be served. Cost will be $10 for NSTC members, $25 for visitors.
Our Hosts:
Sofia Varner - Third-year Mechanical Engineering & Design major and the team's Head of Drivetrain. She is currently working with new members on designing the transmission for the 2024 season car and teaching SolidWorks and FEA skills along the way.
James Chang-Davidson - Fourth-year Computer Science major and the team’s former President. He currently works as a Product Manager within the Software Solutions team to support the development of FinishLine and NERO.
Peyton McKee - First-year Computer Science major and the lead of NERO, our dashboard graphical user interface. He also works as a Tech Lead in our Software Solutions team where he mentors 6-8 developers on the development of our project management dashboard: FinishLine.
