Leading a Sustainable Life
December 4 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
From the food we eat, to the energy we use and products we buy, each of our daily actions leave a cumulative impact on our world. Dozens of small changes can be made every day to live more sustainably. “Change is Simple”, a Beverly based 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit, has turned this mantra into a supercharged STEM program. At December’s lunch and learn Sustainability Forum, Change is Simple’s Patrick Belmonte will show us the easy and fun side of learning STEM programs. Join us to discover the far reaching impacts of our global trash problem. In addition to learning about proper recycling methods, attendees will also learn simple and easy ways to reduce the overall amount of trash/waste we create along with learning better ways to dispose of things like textiles, electronics, food waste, and more.
Patrick will explain how Change is Simple develops and implements curriculum to mobilize local elementary & middle schools, transforming classrooms into ecosystems and construction zones, kids into scientists and engineers. He will show us how they help kids use real-world science tools and project-based learning to create real-world impacts. Led by college mentors and STEM professionals, these workshops and curriculum inspire children to achieve academic success and become mindful participants in creating a healthier and more sustainable future.
