Chris Winn, Senior Manager, Ernst & Young. Chris is part of Ernst & Young’s Northeast Advisory team, and provides expertise to Ernst & Young’s Americas Information Technology and Risk Transformation practice. In this role, he focuses on addressing the challenges organizations face around Security, Identity Management and Data Protection both on premise and in the cloud.
Prior to Ernst & Young, Chris was a Program Manager for Microsoft’s Identity and Security Engineering team, responsible for architecting the next generation technology solutions. In this role, he was responsible for overall product planning and analysis, design and validation, integration and testing, deployment and operational best practices, and communication. In addition, he spent 4 years as Microsoft’s Strategic Security Advisor developing, integrating and communicating Enterprise Security Architecture Frameworks to fortune 500 clients. He also held technical leadership positions in the services organizations at both McAfee Security and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bryant College, in Smithfield RI.
MacDonnell Ulsch is the CEO and Chief Risk Analyst at ZeroPoint Risk Research, LLC, of Boston, MA and is the author of the book “THREAT! Managing Risk in a Hostile World,” published in 2008. He is currently at work on his next book, “Storm Front” about cloud computing risk. He created the risk profiling methodology known as the Enterprise Threat Index (ETX) PRISM or Predictive Risk Impact Scenario Modeling, which was designed to reduce illicit intellectual property acquisition and identity theft. He was at the National Security Institute for many years and worked with Senator Sam Nunn on information policy and advised the presidential Office of Counterintelligence on industrial security and espionage. He was Trusted Advisor to the United States Secrecy Commission, created under Title IX of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, under Senators Jesse Helms (R-North Carolina) and Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-New York). In 2001, he was targeted by the Pakistani terrorist group affiliated with Al-Qaeda, Jaish-e-Mohammed or The Army of Mohammed.
Nicos Vekiarides, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder, TwinStrata. Nicos manages all day to day company functions at TwinStrata. Nicos has spent 18 years in the data storage field, both as a business manager and as an entrepreneur and founder in startup companies. Most recently, Nicos served as Vice President of Product Strategy and Technology at Incipient, Inc., where he helped deliver the industry’s first storage virtualization solution embedded in a Cisco switch fabric.
Prior to Incipient, Nicos was General Manager of the storage virtualization business at Hewlett-Packard, where he managed a multi-site business, delivering several releases of network storage virtualization products and growing the business to include host-based products. Nicos came to HP with the acquisition of StorageApps where he was the founding VP of Engineering. At StorageApps, he built a team that brought to market the industry’s first storage virtualization appliance. Nicos was instrumental in the sale of StorageApps to Hewlett-Packard for $350M in 2001. Prior to StorageApps, Nicos spent a number of years in the data storage industry working at Sun Microsystems and Encore Computer. At Encore, Nicos architected and delivered Encore Computer’s SP data replication products that were a key factor in the $185M sale of Encore’s storage division to Sun Microsystems.
Nicos holds an MS in Computer Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
