In March 2001, the NSTC began to hold monthly breakfast meetings featuring an invited speaker presenting a technology-focused subject. Today the council continues the tradition of spotlighting speakers who present unique topics or insights related to their respective technology areas.
Held at the Peabody Marriott, the Business Breakfast Series has been popular since inception, attracting up to 100 people each meeting. A key element of the forums’ success is they provide an opportunity for members and guests to network, pulling together the diverse technology community of the North Shore.
In June 2001, a steering committee was organized to shape the council’s initial mission and structure. This active group of 15 evolved into a focused team of volunteers who met several times a month to lay a strong foundation for the official launch of the North Shore Technology Council in Spring 2002.
In June 2002, the steering committee passed the mantle of leadership to the NSTC's founding board of directors. Their charge was to build on the council’s early success through membership, sponsorship, and public awareness campaigns that enhance technology business on the North Shore. The NSTC was officially incorporated on July 24, 2002.
In 2005, the NSTC initiated a task force to identify what needs that the council is uniquely positioned to address for the region’s biotechnology and medical devices sector. What emerged from this effort is the Bio/Medical Technology Section, which is developing exciting new programs with content specifically tailored to meet the special needs this burgeoning business community.
